Just a few notes on what to expect for the upcoming match at RR Bar scheduled for Sunday, May 18.

As for registration, you can register on the morning of the match but we prefer that you pre-register to reduce the overhead of activities on that morning. We’ll have a posse sign-up sheet at registration, so please make sure you check that. You’ll get a shooter packet with some information, scorecards, and badge.

We’ve indicated a BB lunch and suggest that you take it to the line with you. There will be a 30-minute cease-fire for lunch to let everyone relax for a bit. We’ll also use that time to collect scorecards to get a start on the scoring.

I’d like to comment on one safety element for the match. Since there will be percussion revolvers and open container loading of powder, all you cigar and cigarette smokers need to refrain from smoking in the bay area. If you must smoke, please do it away from the bay area that is occupied with shooters. We’d appreciate that very much.

We plan on having 6 stages of just pure fun.  It’s expected that you enjoy it! There will definitely be some role-playing and probably some on the clock. Plan on creating as much smoke as possible, we’d like that.

If you’re wondering about the ammo, here’s a suggestion; 60 pistol, 50 pistol lever rifle, 40 single shot or rifle caliber lever, 50 shotgun, and 100 pistol if you’re shooting the Josey Wales category. You know to bring extra just in case, since we’ll allow one alibi per shooter. It’ll be based on a mechanical malfunction (does not include brain), timer error, or Act of God. We’re just trying to be fair.

And then there’s the costume. When there were smoky guns, there were salty, rustic cowpokes, so dress it up! We want some great pics for the album this year.
